Land & Soil Pollution
Trash is all over the place in India. You can see it almost anywhere. Tons of trash gets dumped outside of large cities every year. There are tons of plastic bottles and bags that sit in the piles of trash, and will never go away because they are not biodegradable. They stay in these trash piles for many years. There are also many slums where people are living in their own trash. These slums are very crowded with many people and many houses. They keep their trash right next to their houses, which can be very dangerous to the health of people. They have no place to dispose of the waste, so they are forced to leave it on the ground. Also the trash can be very dangerous to safety of wildlife because wild animals eat the trash, or get things like plastic rings for cans stuck around their necks.
India is a huge place for farmers. With so much fertile soil, many people farm to feed their families. With so much farming going on, there will be many chemicals used to help the crops grow. When these chemicals are not disposed of properly, they can have a huge impact on the soil that the farmers use by making the soil less fertile over time. This will make much of the soil unusable, so many farmers will not be able to use this land for a long time. Also, there is a good chance that these chemicals can make it into the food and water of the people living in these areas. Also to preserve the soil, it is recommended that farmers use 3 of their 4 plots of their land to grow crops, and then the next year rotate so the soil is preserved. However, many farmers are poor in India so they can not afford to not use some of their land, which overtime can make the soil totally useless.
